China is making their own live-action Doraemon movie, and it re-imagines the lovable robot cat from the future and gives him a more realistic look.

Yes, you’ve read that right. China has made a live action Doraemon with a real cat.

This Chinese Doraemon is titled “Bài tuō la xiǎo dīngdāng” and will be based on the original manga by Fujiko Fujio.

However, new elements will be added to this Chinese live-action movie adaptation.

Watching the trailer, it looks like Nobita is a full grown man, but its possible that he can end up being the same Nobita we all know.

We also see that the cat they are using is not blue, but grey. It’s also a mystery on why it’s collar and bell is knitted.

The movie has drawn a mix of reactions from the Japanese, as some have commented that they prefer seeing Doraemon’s original form while others genuinely want to see the movie screened in Japan.
