There's a new Peter Parker behind Spider-Man's mask.

So who will follow in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and go on to play Sony-Marvel's new Spider-Man in his own standalone film? 19-year-old English actor and dancer, Tom Holland.

While Holland might not be the most well-known actor on Sony-Marvel's list, he's definitely an up-and-comer in the entertainment industry.  

In 2012 he starred in “The Impossible” alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and he is also starring in Ron Howard's upcoming film "In the Heart of the Sea" alongside Chris Hemsworth.

According to Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal's extensive search led them to Holland based on his existing body of work and a series of screen tests.

"We saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start."

If Tom Holland's meteoric rise to fame wasn't enough to prove he could play Spider-Man, his Instagram suggests he's clearly well-prepared to take on some crime-fighting and web-slinging, according to the stunt videos he recently shared on his Instagram.

Marvel also announced that they had found their director, Jon Watts, who directed the thriller "Cop Car" with Kevin Bacon.
