News The [email protected] Cinderella Girls Wild Wind Girl Manga Gets Side Story
New side-story series will feature stories not depicted in main manga

The December issue of Akita Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine announced on Monday that Sako Misaki's The [email protected] Cinderella Girls Wild Wind Girl manga will get a side story manga. The spinoff will feature "a slightly different point of view," and will tell stories not depicted in the main manga.

The issue didn't specify if The [email protected] Cinderella Girls Wild Wind Girl Bangaihen manga would be a one-shot series, a short series, or a full serialization, but it did state that the manga's "serialization will start" in the 2018 April issue, which will ship on March 6.

The main manga ended in the same issue on Monday. The magazine teased in October that "Wild Wind Girl isn't over yet," and that the December issue would have a special announcement.

The manga centers on Takumi Mukai, a tough girl with a big-sisterly attitude who leads a motorcycle gang. When she meets a certain person, her destiny begins to change, and she decides to become an idol.

Misaki launched the manga in Monthly Shōnen Champion in April 2016. Akita Shoten shipped the manga's third compiled book volume on June 8, and will ship the manga's fourth volume on November 8. Each volume of the manga has had an accompanying limited edition release that also included a CD with a voice drama and songs.

Cygames developed the original The [email protected] Cinderella Girls game app, a spinoff of Bandai Namco Entertainment's The [email protected] game franchise, focusing on a different idol agency and characters. The app inspired its own television anime.

The game has also inspired multiple manga adaptations, including seven manga in Square Enix magazines. Sō Ueto launched a The [email protected] Cinderella Girls manga in Ichijinsha's Comic Rex in December 2015 after several delays. Kyōno launched a manga titled The [email protected] Cinderella Girls U149 on Cygames' Cycomi manga website last November. Kuma-Jet's The [email protected] Cinderella Girls Gekijō (The [email protected] Cinderella Girls Theater) manga, which is irregularly serialized in the [email protected] Cinderella Girls social mobile game app itself, inspired its own anime adaptation, which premiered on April 4. A second season of the anime premiered on October 3, and Crunchyroll is streaming the anime.
