Anime Series Like 7 Seeds

With extinction-level meteors heading towards Earth, the government attempted to preserve humanity with the 7 Seeds Program. In this program, several teams of young people were established, frozen, and to be woken up in the future after the planet is livable again. However, the world these children wake up in is wild and dangerous where they appear to be the only humans left.

While stumbling along in some of the finer details, 7 Seeds does a masterful job at telling truly sad stories about just what we would do in the end of the world. If you want more anime series like it, then give these anime recommendations below a try.

For Fans Of Survival

Dr. Stone

One day, all of humanity was engulfed in light and mysteriously petrified. After a few millennia, two high schoolers awaken and find themselves in a wild world. These two set out to cure those still frozen and kick start civilization.

Both of these series have almost the same premise, but with different atmospheres. In both series, the world has ended and the characters wake up thousands of years later to a vastly different world. They must rebuild society. However, while Dr. Stone has some comedy to it, 7 Seeds is mostly drama.

The Promised Neverland

Grace Fields House is a home for orphans. However, even though they have no blood families, they are all one big family. That is, until the age of twelve when they are adopted out. The kids also know that they are not allowed outside the fenced yard, but one day, two children break that rule. They then discover that the children who are “adopted” are actually subjected to something much darker.

Although at the beginning these series start out vastly different, but you soon discover their similarities as you watch. Both have characters in a world different from our own and one that is also very dangerous. They are also placed in a program that was designed for them.

Are You Lost?

After a plane crash, four girls are left stranded on a desert island. Luckily, one of them is a hardcore survival enthusiast thanks to being trained by her father.

Both series do a rather lackluster job at trying to show survival techniques, but what they do show is pretty sound. However, while 7 Seeds is about the drama of being the last humans alive on Earth, Are You Lost is mostly an excuse to make cute girls do gross things.

For Fans of New Worlds

From the New World

After the sudden outbreak of psychokinesis, the .01% of the population that developed it started using their powers for nefarious means. Far into the future, the town of Kamisu 66 is wholly populated by psychics with the young Saki being one of the most recent to awaken her powers. Finally she can join the rest of her friends at the Sage Academy. However, her school days are plagued with questions that threaten to unravel the dark secrets of her idyllic village.

In From the New World and 7 Seeds, something dramatic happened to humanity, and what you are seeing when both series start is what happened after. Both shows have some really hard hitting moments as you unravel the truth behind what really is going on.

Uninhabited Planet Survive

In the 22nd century, Earth has become uninhabitable, and humanity has spread out to other planets. While on a school trip through space, a class enters a gravity storm and finds themselves stranded on a seemingly uninhabited planet. However, while they struggle to survive, they don’t know what else is lurking in the shadows.

These anime series both follow young people put in a difficult situation. While Uninhabited Planet Survive is less serious, like 7 Seeds it is about survival for these kids in a strange world that wasn’t necessarily made to support human life.

Astra Lost in Space

In 2061, the students of Caird High School go to Planet Camp in space. However, Group B5 arrived at their camp site only to be engulfed by a glowing sphere and transported 5000 light years away. In a spot of luck, they find an abandoned space ship nearby and now must struggle to both survive and get home.

While different because of the whole space travel thing, Astra forces kids into a survival situation. However, unlike 7 Seeds, every planet poses a different challenge they must overcome where as they get to adapt in 7 Seeds.

For Fans of Tragic Character Stories

The Lost Village

A bus full of eccentric individuals that met on the internet all decide to leave society behind in search of a mysterious village that cannot be found by any map. Excited for their new life, these people soon find that this village is full of more mysteries than they can comprehend.

While The Lost Village (and some could argue 7 Seeds as well) has some problems, it does present a similar set up. A bunch of young people are out in the wilderness and their back stories are explored as they try to survive. The Lost Village has more of a mystery element to it it, however.

Berserk

Gutts has been a mercenary for as long as he can remember, caring for nothing but moving to the next battle, but one fateful battle puts him at odds with the Band of the Hawk. Their charismatic, idealist leader Griffith soon makes him join by force, but his bond he forms with the Band of the Hawk may very well mean the end of the world.

So these series seem very different in all respects, and yes, that is true. However, what ties them together is that every single back story is just painful. You watch every one struggle for their short lives in some way just to live. Some truly horrible things happen, but yet, they go on.
