can anyone explain what a oneshot is?
A Oneshot its basically a One chapter manga. Some of them, depending on their succes, tend to get a serialization, wich is what happened to this manga. Lots of mangas started as oneshots, but then got serializated. "Komi-san wa komyushou desu" is an example
