The Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel series is getting a new creative team. Dark Horse and Nickelodeon announced today that Faith Erin Hicks and Peter Wartman will now be helming the series about a world in which certain people, called benders, can manipulate the elements. Hicks is best known for her work in series like The Adventures of Superhero Girl and The Last of Us: American Dreams, while Wartman has known for Over the Wall and Stonebreaker. Hicks illustrated a short 10-page Avatar story starring Sokka and Suki for Free Comic Book Day back in 2014. Dark Horse will publish the next volume of its popular graphic novel series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender on Oct. 10. A new one-shot anthology comic, titled Avatar: The Last Airbender – Team Avatar Tales, will debut a month earlier. Subtitled Imbalance, the new Avatar story arc will unfold over three volumes, like previous installments. According to Entertainment Weekly, the part part of the trilogy will see Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph grapple with a conflict between benders and non-benders in an industrial town.
