A unique publication from before Shogakukan Inc. established Viz Communications in 1987 (the first full-fledged business in the United States by a Japanese Manga publisher), MANGA was an 88-page anthology of 10 short stories in both color and black-and-white: An experiment by Masaichi Mukaide, the publication\'s editor, this may have been too far ahead of its time, in many aspects. News Märchen Mädchen Manga Scheduled, Online Game Project Announced
Anime adaptation of light novel series slated for 2018 This year's October issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine will announce on Monday that the manga adaptation of late author Tomohiro Matsu and artist Kantoku's Märchen Mädchen (Fairy Tale Girls) light novel series will launch in Jump SQ.'s November issue on October 4. Takatoshi Nakamura (Densetsu no Yūsha no Konkatsu) and newcomer artist Kiyotsugu Yamagata are collaborating on the series. The magazine also announced a Märchen Mädchen online game project from DMM Games. The staff will reveal more information at Tokyo Game Show 2017 this month, and DMM Games' booth will host a stage event with voice actresses Tomori Kusunoki (voice of Hazuki Kagimura), Rie Suegara (Shizuka Tsuchimikado), and Lynn (Yumilia Qazan) on September 24. The novels center on Hazuki Kagimura, a normal girl who is usually alone. With her relationship with her new family not going so well, she retreats every day to the world of stories and books.

News The Promised Neverland Manga Has 1.5 Million Copies in Print
This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland manga has 1.5 million copies in print in Japan. Shirai and Demizu launched the manga in August 2016. Shueisha will publish the manga's fifth compiled volume (pictured at right) on Monday. Viz Media previewed the manga's first three chapters in English as part of its Jump Start initiative, then added the manga to the anthology's full lineup. Shueisha describes the manga: The lady I fondly call mom …is not my mom. The children I live with …are not my siblings. This is Grace Field House, a small orphanage. Although the orphanage wasn't the best, the three protagonists—Emma, Norman, and Ray—lived a peaceful and happy everyday life. However, one day that life came to an end… What is the cruel twist of fate that await these children…?! The manga was nominated for the 10th Manga Taisho awards earlier this year.

News All-Female Sakigake!! Otoko Juku Spinoff Manga Ends
Michi Saitō launched spinoff manga in 2015 Michi Saitō published the final chapter of Otokojuku Gaiden: Kurenai!! Onna Juku, the all-female spinoff of Akira Miyashita's Sakigake!! Otoko Juku manga, on Wednesday. The manga is set thirty years after World War III, after Japan has suffered immense damage from a dangerous weapon known as a "Man Bomb" that affected nearly all Japanese men and rendered them unable to fight, with other men giving their lives for their country. Heihachi Edajima, an Otoko Juku veteran and survivor of the Man Bomb, starts up a new facility known as Onna Juku, a tough combat training facility. He begins training several Japanese women to fight for their country. The manga follows Momoko Tsurugi, a descendant of former protagonist Momotaro Tsurugi, who recently enrolls in Onna Juku. News Grimgar's Okuhashi Draws Manga Adaptation of Faraway Paladin Light Novels
Manga based on Kanata Yanagino's light novel series launches on September 25 Overlap Bunko announced on August 25 that Mutsumi Okuhashi is launching a manga adaptation of Kanata Yanagino's The Faraway Paladin (Saihate no Paladin) light novel seriers. The manga will launch on Overlap's Comic Gardo web manga site on September 25, and will publish chapters monthly. Okuhashi drew a preview visual for the manga. Overlap Bunko also previewed the cover art spread by Kususaga Rin for the original novel series' upcoming fourth volume. J-Novel Club is publishing Yanagino's original novel in English, and began releasing chapters last November.
