“Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9” has had its fair share of strong cliffhangers; first Buffy discovering she’s pregnant, then deciding to go through having an abortion and finally realizing that actually she’s not pregnant but merely a robot. With that level of “surprise!” moments for the past few months, it was just a matter of time until writer Andrew Chambliss had to bring in a massive amount of exposition. With that arrival, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9” loses all of that steam. Chambliss (along with editor Scott Allie, stepping in this month) does his best to explain how, when, and why Buffy was replaced with yet another BuffyBot, but the reasoning never feels quite that strong. It’s a little hard to believe that the person behind the swap would have actually done so (especially considering the use of the character in previous comic stories), and the telling of the events comes across as extremely flat. “Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Nine #7” by Andrew Chambliss and Georges Jeanty is an incredibly controversial comic. While it is arguably less politically controversial than the previous issue, there are plot developments here that will leave fans in a tailspin. The issue begins with Buffy’s roommates voting to let her stay in the apartment only to find she has already left and moved in with Spike in his steampunk bug spaceship, a development sure to make Buffy/Spike fans nearly faint with excitement (I say that as one myself). In-depth emotional conversations between the two friends and former lovers will both curl fans’ toes and continue the political controversy of the last issue as they discuss her impending abortion. However, the real craziness in this issue comes after a fight with a huge nest of zompires when Buffy has her arm torn off, which is not even the most shocking development. I’m incredibly serious. PS4/Vita/Xbox One game ships on November 9 The official website for MAGES. and 5pb.'s visual novel game adaptation of Chiyomaru Shikura's Occultic;Nine novel began series streaming a gameplay video on Sunday. The video highlights the different ways the story can progress, including posting in your blog, and listening to noise on the radio. The game will ship both physically and digitally on November 9, delayed from its original September 28 release. The regular packaged version of the game will cost 7,800 yen (about US$72). The digital version will cost 7,000 yen (US$64) for PS4 and PS Vita, and 6,980 yen (US$64) for Xbox One.
