“SOURCE CODE” finale! Oracle’s past entanglements with Gotham City’s underworld have gotten the Birds in deep trouble as Calculator, Catwoman and Poison Ivy all pull the team into their own dark agendas! Even if they can get themselves out of this mess, the question remains: Does Oracle really belong with the Birds of Prey, or is he a criminal at heart?

Now that their “Rebirth” one shot is over, the Birds of Prey are getting down to business. Even though one of the characters feels a little off-kilter, Julie Benson, Shawna Benson and Claire Roe’s “Batgirl and the Birds of Prey” #1 has some strong elements that should definitely be enough to keep readers coming back for the next installment. There’s a lot to like about the Bensons’ script. There’s a good opening sequence where they show rather than tell the reader how well Black Canary and Oracle once worked together, as they take down a hijacked train using teamwork. It moves at a nice clip, and Roe knows when to ramp up the tension and when to slow down so that an entire flashback fits into three pages without feeling cramped. “SOURCE CODE” part two! Oracle crossed half the criminal underworld in his early years—and now, he’s caused a black cat to cross the Birds of Prey’s path! Catwoman’s been waiting for a chance to get her claws on this guy for a while…but at this point, do the Birds even want to stand in her way?

“Source Code” part one! The Birds of Prey tentatively accepted working with the new Oracle, even though they knew he’d gone down a dark road to find them…but did they have any idea how dark? His story unfolds here—including the identity of the person who trained him, to whom he owes a dangerous debt!

“Blackbird” part two! The Birds need answers about the mysterious Blackbird, who’s handing out massive increases in power to Gotham City’s most dangerous metahumans…and to get them they’re sending their own dangerous metahuman, Black Canary, undercover into the world of black-market super-powered fights! Roulette rules this world with an iron fist…will she give up the secrets Dinah needs? And at what price?
