Nintendo announced on Tuesday that it is ending its Miiverse social network service in Japan on November 8. Wii U Chat and Nintendo TVii services will also end in Japan on the same day.
Nintendo of America also announced that the Miiverse service will end at 1:00 a.m. ET on November 7. Ninendo of Europe will discontinue the service on August 11 at 6:00 a.m. GMT.
Nintendo will remove Miiverse features from compatible Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games in Japan. The affected games will include more than 70 Wii U titles and more than 20 Nintendo 3DS titles. Players will be able to download their Miiverse posts for a limited time.
Nintendo launched Miiverse for use with the Wii U console in November 2012. A web-based version for smartphones, tablets, and PC debuted in April 2013, followed by a Nintendo 3DS version in December 2013. The service is not available for Nintendo Switch, the company's most recent console.
