Video games based on Japanese anime are a dime a dozen these days.
With iterations upon iterations of Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Shonen Jump, Bleach, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, do we still want more? Of course!
Here are 14 anime series that deserve their video games adaptation.
1. Knights of Sidonia
Robots and aliens battling it out in space are hardly new to the anime and gaming world, but Knights of Sidonia practically pre-packages the boss fights for you.
2. Natsume’s Book of Friends
Natsume’s Book of Friends has some of the most touching yet creepy youkai tales you’ll ever come across in an anime.
With storytelling in video games becoming more important with every passing year, we love to see the creatures on show become enemies you’d have to face or befriend.
3. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai)
Visual novel, with mini games picked from Sena’s galges. Game of the year material right here.
4. Akame ga Kill!
Akame ga Kill! has some seriously awesome superpowers on display throughout the series, and having some of those translated into a fighting game or action/adventure title would be sweet.
5. Gosick
Point and click adventures aren’t dead yet! Well-told and intriguing mystery games have comfortably found an audience in the gaming world, so why not expand further?
6. Aldnoah.Zero
We wouldn’t feel right not including a mecha series on a list about anime titles that deserve games, so we might as well have two!
This one would be a lot more fun to play from the martians points of view, giving players a chance to operate some of the ridiculous machines that continue plaguing humanity.
7. Xam’d: Lost Memories
We like cool super powers. Sue me! This one would be a blast as a fighting game, but be careful about adding a story mode.
It would probably make even less sense than the show itself.
8. Chuunibyou
Chuunibyou is kind of a weird one, giving us part adorable romance and surprisingly intense battles on the side. But hey, it works for Persona.
9. Log Horizon
It’s pretty self-explanatory, really. And if Sword Art Online can have a game, then why not?
10. Eden of the East
The power to manipulate the entire world with only a cell phone? Eden of the East was doing that way before Watch Dogs tried to make it cool, and it’s definitely more fun in the anime portrayal, too.
11. Last Exile
The world needs more anime racing games, and Last Exile’s steampunk ships would be the perfect place to start!
Sometimes we all need a little break from kart racers (unless you want to lose friends), right?
12. No Game No Life
How does this not already exist?!
13. NoragamiIt
This anime adaptaion would be like Animal Crossing. Keep saving money, but for a giant temple and followers who don’t laugh at the sight of you instead.
14. S-Cry-Ed
This show featured a wide range of bizarre, and sometimes even tragic abilities, it will be a ton of fun to play.
