DC Comics Superhero Drama "Titans" Nears TNT Pilot Order

Hope you’re not sick of comic book shows on TV as another DC Comics property is heading to the small screen.

It’s reported that TNT is nearing a pilot-production order for Titans, a drama based on DC’s “Teen Titans” team, which celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.

Based on characters from DC Comics, Titans would be an hourlong drama focusing on a group of young superheroes-to-be who are recruited from every corner of the DC universe. And the show is described as a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever.

Warner Horizon Television would produce the latest DC Comics television series, with the the Academy Award-winning Akiva Goldsman executive producing and Marc Haimes co-executive producing.

Dick Grayson is leading the way on Titans after he sheds his Batman sidekick alter-ego of Robin and becomes popular superhero Nightwing, and will be joined by other young superheroes like Starfire and Raven. Though, it isn’t know which team TNT and Warner Bros. would focus on for the new series.

This isn’t the first time Titans characters will be seen on the small screen, since WBTV has already brought the characters to life on animated kids series "Teen Titans" from 2003-2006 and "Teen Titans Go!" on Cartoon Network, but TNT's Titans will age the characters from “teens” to “young adults,” making the show more grown-up and mature.

If it moves forward, “Titans” will join a crowded slate of DC television series, including “Arrow” and “The Flash” on The CW, “Gotham” on FOX and “Constantine” on NBC.
