News Square Enix's Grand Marche no Meikyū Smartphone Game Shuts Down in November
Game launched in September last year

The official website for Square Enix's Grand Marche no Meikyū (Grand Marche Labyrinth) smartphone game announced last Friday that the game will end service on November 30. The announcement cited difficulties in delivering a product that users could be satisfied with as the reason for the game shutting down.

The game launched in September 2016 for iOS and Android devices. Indieszero developed the game. Gameplay consisted of exploring the world to search for new ingredients and making food to level up.

The game's plot centers around a girl and boy who ate a magical fruit that fell from the sky, and subsequently turned into culinary adventurers. Using their newfound powers, the two go off in search for the Grand Marche. To enhance their abilities, they learn how to prepare newly discovered species, and continue through a labyrinthine journey.

Square Enix previously streamed the game's opening cinematic before the game launched last year.
