Writer Robbie Thompson has far-reaching plans for Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man/Deadpool, stretching into the far future with one-off stories starring Spider-Man and Deadpool in their 80s living together in a retirement home.

These stories of Old Man Parker and Old Man Wilson will remain a regular feature in the series, a la the “Deadpool 2099” pieces Gerry Duggan has been been telling in Deadpool.

“We’re also working on a story set in the future — Scott Hepburn is drawing it and it’s insanely beautiful!,” Thompson told CBR. “Basically, every three or so issues we’ll flash-forward to Old Man Parker and Old Man Wilson … living in a retirement home. They go on one last adventure together that will eventually tie back in to our “present”-day story, setting up a huge new arc in July. Scott’s designs for these two old farts are so amazing and I’m really excited for people to see his work on this. He’s created a future that’s really grounded and unique. I have his designs printed out above my desk, and I just love these two old dudes so much. […] Old Man Parker/Old Man Wilson forever!”

It’s possible the Old Man Parker/Old Man Wilson tale is related to the promise of “the biggest Spider-Man and Deadpool story of all time,” with the first clue arriving in January’s Spider-Man/Deadpool #26, the fourth part of “Spider-Man vs. Deadpool” and our first look at the aged superheroes in the future.
