As a young girl, Yuu has always loved shoujo manga and has awaited a love confession that sets her heart aflutter. However, when she gets one from a junior high classmate, she feels nothing. Unsure how to respond, she watches Nanami, her high school student council president, expertly let someone down who just confessed to her. Seeking her guidance, she asks for Nanami’s help. However, the next love confession she receives is from Nanami, could this be the romance she was waiting for?

Touching yuri anime seems to be all the rage these days, and this is another well done series for it. If you are looking for similar, then look no further than these anime recommendations.

For Fans of Shoujo-Ai School Love

After her mother remarries, fashionable Yuzu moves to a new city. However, with her all-girls school being strict and conservative, she immediately butts heads with the stoic student council present. Worse yet, later that night, she discovers that the student council president is now her new stepsister.

While Citrus certain has a more aggressive approach, it remains markedly similar to Bloom Into You. It is a yuri romance between a naive blonde girl and a more experienced black haired girl. While step sisters in Citrus, it should also be noted that the black haired girls in both shows are also student council presidents.

    Sweet Blue Flowers

Introverted Fumi is entering her new all-girls high school for her first year with a broken heart. However, she reconnects with her old best friend, Akira, who is going to another neighboring all-girls school. Together they both reconnect and discuss their various love problems.

Much of Bloom Into You is about two girls sharing their feelings that they share with no one else in the world. Sweet Blue Flowers is much the same as it is a sweet yuri show set in a school. Furthermore, both remain less aggressive than other yuri shows.

    Sakura Trick

Haruka and Yuu have been best friends since middle school. However, now that they are in high school together, they are both growing apart. To cement their friendship, they decide to do something that have never done with anyone else – kiss. However, this awakens a whole slew of new feelings for them both.

Like every good yuri show, both Bloom Into You and Sakura Trick start off as shows about two girls building a friendship. However, something happens and suddenly these feelings start to emerge. The shows then progress to explore said feelings.

For Fans of School Council Presidents

    Strawberry Panic

Aoi Nagisa has transferred to one of the three all-girls schools on Astraea Hill. There she discovers an innate hierarchy where two Etoiles represent the student body of the three schools. However, one Etoiles named Shizuma finds herself drawn to this new transfer student.

Strawberry Panic is a bit of an infamous yuri show, and unlike Bloom Into You, it is all about power plays. You watch predatory school leaders prey on young girls. However, Bloom Into You isn’t predatory, it is just sweet.

    Kill la Kill

After the murder of her father, Ryuuko Matoi scours the land searching for his killer. Her only lead is the missing half of his invention – the Scissor Blade. On her search, she is lead to the prestigious Honnouji Academy that is ruled by the iron-fisted student council president Satsuki Kiryuuin and her Elite Four. These students rule with their “uniforms” that bestow upon them supernatural powers. Ryuuko Matoi is convinced that they know something about her father’s death, but to face them, she needs a uniform of her own.

While not specifically yuri like Bloom Into You, Kill la Kill is about a power dynamic between a student and their student council president. It is quite the different power dynamic, but it isn’t hard to imagine some yuri into Kill la Kill.

    Oniisama E

After being admitted to a prestigious all-girls school, Nanako believes she has a bright future. However, like any school, her school is a pit of deceit, jealousy, and misery. She finds this out further when she is admitted to the school’s elite sorority.

Think of Oniisama E as a darker yuri show. Like Bloom Into You, it is just full of drama and emotion, but as an older show, it certainly isn’t very fluffy about it. If you are looking for something real, but also just kind of melodramatic, it is a fine watch.

For Fans of True Feelings Shared Between Lovers

Ryuuji Takasu is a gentle student with a passion for housework, however his thug face causes his fellow students to think him a delinquent. Taiga Aisaka is small and cute, but with an attitude as fierce as a tiger. Both of these misunderstood students have a crush two classmates, and after a series of misunderstandings of their own, they find themselves in an unlikely alliance.

Although it is a romance show, Toradora isn’t a yuri show. However, it shares the same sentiment about two people who can only share their true feelings with each other. The romance moves a bit faster in Bloom Into You, but Toradora is worth the wait.

    Say I Love You

After a traumatic incident in her past, Mei Tachibana swore off making friends, deeming all people as untrustworthy. While her quiet life seems to be going quite normally, her core as an introvert is shaken by a few chance encounters with the popular Yamato Kurosawa.

Both shows are about girls that have trouble with their feelings. However, that all changes when they meet the right person. While Say I Love You isn’t yuri, it is about two people letting it all lay bare between each other.

    Whispered Words

Sumika is a high school girl that gets good grades and excels at sports. However, she is secretly in love with her friend Ushio. While Ushio is constantly falling in love with girls, she is completely oblivious to Sumika’s feelings. This means that when Ushio is dumped, it is her job to console her.

Yuri shows like to stay away from closeted emotions, and while Bloom into You takes a similar stance, Whispered Words does not. However, that closeted nature of emotions makes the feelings more touching as they can only be known by a select few.
