Gintama.s "Porori Arc" begins in October This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump will announce on Monday that Blue Encount will perform a new opening theme song for the Gintama anime that will begin airing in October. The rock band also performed an opening theme song for the 2015 Gintama anime. The Gintama anime will return on TV Tokyo in October with a "Porori Arc." The staff have yet to officially confirm if the arc will be new animation based on the manga, an original story, or reruns of old episodes. The anime began airing reruns in April with new opening and ending sequences. Hideaki Sorachi began the original Gintama manga in 2004 and it continues to be ranked among the top-selling manga in Japan. The manga has more than 50 million copies in print in Japan. Gintama Ranbu in development for PS4, PS Vita This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump will announce on Monday that Bandai Namco Entertainment's upcoming Gintama action game, previously code-named "Gintama Project Last Game," is titled Gintama Ranbu. The magazine will also reveal that Shinpachi and Kagura will be playable characters. Weekly Shonen Jump announced the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in July. A teaser video showed Gintoki battling Takasugi. Gintama inspired its first smartphone game titled Gintama Kabukichō Daikatsugeki (Gintama Kabuki District Great Action Movie) for iOS and Android that launched last year. The manga has inspired previous games for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, Wii, and PlayStation Portable.
